2015 Annual General Meeting

Time: Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 4pm to 6pm
Location: Mount Pleasant Community Centre (Multipurpose Room 2), 1 Kingway, Vancouver, BC V5T 3H7
New Membership Deadline: April 5, 2015

Our City of Colours would like to warmly invite you to our 2015 Annual General Meeting. At the meeting, we will be providing an update of the organization for the past year, voting on amending sections of our bylaws and constitution, and electing a new board. We also have a surprise reveal too!

The venue is wheelchair-friendly with bathrooms that are wheelchair-accessible. There is also a gender-neutral bathroom on the first floor.

If you have paid your membership fee within the last year, you will be able to vote and be eligible to become a candidate for the board of directors. If you signed up as a member before but haven’t renewed your membership in the past year, then you can renew your membership at the AGM to be in good standing. We encourage you to tell your friends, family, colleagues, and other supporters to become members as they can have a say in the direction of the society. Please note the new membership deadline is April 5, 2015.

Members in good standing can run for a position on the board of directors and all positions will be up for election. OCC strives for a diverse board and highly encourages people who self-identify as trans, female, Aboriginal, youth, and/or varying abilities to apply for the Board. We also encourage people who can communicate in multiple languages to apply. The board of directors will be composed of:

Executives (4)

  • Chair
  • Vice Chair
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

Directors-at-Large (5)

  • Visibility & Awareness
  • Fund Development
  • Resource Development
  • Community Liaison
  • Special Projects

If you are interested in being on the board of directors, please send your name, a short biography (no more than 100 words), and which position(s) you’re interested in to [email protected]. Members who inform us of their candidacy before April 10 will have their biography included in an email to all members. Members can also nominate themselves or someone else at the AGM. We will also be hosting info sessions for people who wish to learn more about being on the board.

An agenda along with candidate biographies will be sent in mid-April. We look forward to seeing you at our Annual General Meeting on April 26! Let us know you’ll be coming by RSVPing on our Facebook event page!
